Say it. Convert it.

Dictate a number and two units. Cyber Converter picks the matching category and shows your conversion.

Your first voice conversion

  1. Tap the dictation button in the main converter. You do not need to hold it down.
  2. Allow microphone and speech recognition access when iOS asks. Wait for dictation to finish initialising before speaking.
  3. Say one short conversion in English, such as “ten miles to kilometers.” Include the number, the starting unit and the unit you want.
  4. Pause briefly. Your words appear as you speak. Once the request is recognised, the app selects the units, applies the value and returns to the converter.

To stop before a conversion is accepted, tap the dictation button again. To start a phrase over while dictating, tap the delete button to clear the transcript and listen again.

What to say

Use number + starting unit + “to” or “in” + destination unit. Speak unit names in full and make one request at a time.

  • “Ten miles to kilometers”
  • “Two point five liters to milliliters”
  • “Minus ten degrees celsius in fahrenheit”
  • “Sixty miles per hour to kilometers per hour”

Say “point” for decimals and “minus” for negative numbers. Both units must be supported by the app and measure the same kind of quantity: length to length, for example. A request such as grams to kilometers cannot be converted.

Keep the phrase short. Very long transcripts are cleared automatically so you can try again.

Microphone & speech permissions

The microphone captures your voice; speech recognition turns it into text. Both permissions are needed for dictation. You can still use the keyboard and unit selectors without them.

If you previously declined access, open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security. Check Microphone and Speech Recognition, and enable Cyber Converter in each list. Then return to the app and start dictation again.

An app appears in these permission lists after it has requested access. For more information, see Apple’s guide to app permissions.

Which languages work?

Conversion phrases currently need to be spoken in English. The app uses the first English language in your iPhone’s preferred languages, or US English if none is listed.

There is no separate dictation-language selector in Cyber Converter. Apple’s speech services support other languages, but the app’s conversion phrases and unit names currently use English.

Can I dictate offline?

Offline dictation depends on your iPhone, iOS version and available speech data. On supported devices, the app can use Apple’s on-device speech recognition. The first use may need an internet connection to download the required speech data.

If on-device recognition is unavailable, the app can fall back to an Apple speech service that may require an internet connection and process speech on Apple’s servers. Offline dictation is not guaranteed on every device.

Before relying on it offline, try a voice conversion while connected, then test again without a connection. If speech recognition is unavailable, you can still enter numbers and select units manually; the conversion calculations work offline.

Apple manages the downloaded speech data and speech service availability.

If something is not working

No words appear

Check both permissions, wait for initialisation to finish and speak clearly in a quiet place. If you use a headset, check its microphone connection. Stop dictation and tap the button again to retry.

Dictation is unavailable

Connect to the internet and try again. Also check Settings → General → Keyboard → Enable Dictation, particularly if the app is using Apple’s older speech service. Screen Time restrictions or a managed device can limit access to speech recognition.

See Apple’s Dictation settings guide for the system setting.

The words appear, but nothing converts

Include a number and both unit names, use English, and pause at the end. Check that the units belong to the same category. Tap delete and try a shorter phrase if the transcript is incorrect.

The result is not what I meant

Check the recognised number and units. Start dictation again with a clearer phrase, or correct the number and units in the main converter.
